Cause

Celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2021, Kajaks Track and Field Club started from humble beginnings. Founded by Olympians Doug and Dianne Clement in 1961 with a handful of kids from local schools, they started training on an old horse racing track in Richmond BC. Since those early days, Kajaks club members have won many regional, provincial, national, international, and Olympic track and field competitions.

Kajaks' current mission is to grow the club and the sport of Track and Field in Richmond by allowing greater access to any athlete wishing to participate. The club aims to expand capacity further and eventually allow athletes of all ages and abilities unrestricted access to the sport of track and field, including disabled athletes. This fundraising will help support the growth for existing and new members - through provision of professional coaching, training for new coaches and availability of indoor facilities in off-season months.
